A sampling of what's on in the arts this spring:

Santa Fe
"Between the Lines: Culture and Cartography on the Road to Statehood," New Mexico History Museum
January 15, 2012 - May 4, 2012, Culture and Cartography
"'Between the Lines: Culture and Cartography on the Road to Statehood' in the Governor's Gallery is part of the state's 2012 Centennial celebration. The exhibition explores how cartographers interpreted New Mexico's land, its physical and political boundaries, and the cultural minglings of Native, Spanish, Mexican, and American people. Drawing on maps from outstanding public and private collections, including the New Mexico History Museum's Fray Angélico Chávez History Library, the exhibition contains hand-drawn and printed maps from 1564 to the present day."

London
"The Queen by Cecil Beaton," Victoria & Albert
February 8 - April 22, 2012, V&A
"As part of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the V&A shows highlights of Cecil Beaton's numerous photographs of the Royal Family. For over 40 years from 1939, Beaton (1904-1980) was a favoured royal photographer, capturing some of the most personal images of Queen Elizabeth II ever seen. He was chosen to take the first pictures of Prince Charles as a baby, and covered The Queen's coronation in 1953. This exciting exhibition allows a glimpse into The Queen's public and private life."
